Mammadov holds an LL.B. from Baku State University and recently completed an LL.M. in Law, Economics, and Finance at the University of Bologna (Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna), Italy. His master’s thesis, “Enhancing Transparency in Investor-State Dispute Resolution: A Comparative Analysis of Civil Procedural Law and Private International Law”, reflects his strong interest in transparency and dispute settlement mechanisms.

Mammadov describes himself as deeply immersed in private international law, with a particular focus on arbitration and cross-border dispute resolution. Alongside civil procedural law, these fields have formed the cornerstone of his academic journey. As part of this path, he represented the University of Bologna at the 30th Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot and participated in several summer schools and seminars dedicated to international arbitration.

Currently, his research focuses on the intersections of international investment arbitration, environmental law, and climate-related concerns, underlining his commitment to exploring the role of arbitration in addressing global challenges.
